Where 'The Headshot' Came From

“Your description in your profile is really well done. I came away feeling like I know you. Your background and thirst for knowledge is really impressive and inspiring.”

“A media summit slated me for a speaking panel… this is before I posted your write-up. A few weeks later, they read my LinkedIn bio and said they had to make me the keynote speaker.”

As a copywriter for personal brands, my services are all about storytelling with purpose. Client feedback like this gives me life: it’s the energy I need to keep writing and spreading the message that words matter.

Both of these clients got the Headshot, my most popular service and the best way to boost your career through powerful, strategic copy. This service came about organically: when I launched as Liz Feezor Creative over two years ago, I didn’t set out to write copy for LinkedIn, or even to create bios for people.

As I continued along my entrepreneurial path, the need for bios became clear: I kept hearing from clients and others I spoke to that writing about themselves was awkward and painful—and they didn’t want to do it.

I’ve used LinkedIn to network, to job-hunt, and to connect with people and ideas that matter to me. As I’ve learned more about the platform and how it works, LinkedIn has opened up a world of opportunity for me, and the Headshot service gives this opportunity to others.

So where did ‘The Headshot’ come from?

The Headshot service was named after its visual equivalent. A headshot is a tightly cropped photo from the shoulders up, focusing only on what’s most important: the face. When we see only what matters most, the message becomes clear and can easily be understood.

This is what my Headshot service is all about: take keywords and phrases, weave those into a narrative about your past and present, and use it as a springboard to accomplish your goals and write yourself into a future you want.

My clients have gotten job offers, secured speaking engagements, and landed valuable connections after their LinkedIn bio refresh, and I absolutely love hearing their success stories. This kind of positive energy is iterative: what I give comes across in copy that boosts clients’ careers, which does good things for their workplaces, families, and social networks.

My business came about because I know what it’s like to be in a work situation that feels like a betrayal of values, and what I do is designed to solve this problem. As an objective party to someone’s professional life and career path, I ask questions that get people talking.

When we’re engaged in a real conversation, people open up about their accomplishments, goals, and reasons for doing what they do for work. We can easily get to the “why”, which is ultimately what hooks people and compels them to want to learn more about the person they see.

Everyone has the power within themselves to crush their goals; we just need someone to help us unlock it.

And this is what the Headshot is all about.
